Point Me in the Right Direction
It seems that maps are the hottest new trend on the internet. Mapquest was the tip of the iceberg, followed by yahoomaps, googlemaps and now all kinds of mapping sites are being developed.
One of the most helpful mapping tools that I use regularly is hopstop.com. Although there are other subway map sites, hopstop seems to be one of the easiest to use.
If you are looking for a restaurant near a particular subway line Taste of the New York Subway System is the site for you. A handy tool that lets you click on your subway line and up pops a list of restaurants.
The latest belle of the ball is nycgarages.com. They haven’t yet spread uptown to include garages in Harlem this site has the potential to be a great resource for those who get nervous about parking their car out on the street.
For uptown dwellers the Feder Guide has your parking situation covered. The guide informs you about where to park and where not to park. For a sample of their Midtown/Uptown Guide visit federguide.com.
Other helpful maps that you might find helpful include one I mentioned last week, myapartmentmap.com. This map is great for scouting out new neighborhoods while browsing apartment listings. Another map-like tool that is even more “go go gadget” is one that was mentioned in the Daily News yesterday. Smarter Agent puts the same information available on Propertyshark into the palm of your hands using GPS technology. Read about it here.
One of the best map sites is actually a map that you can build yourself at mapbuilder.net. Check out someone’s map of the best soul food restaurants in New York City.
Do you have a favorite mapping tool that wasn’t mentioned here? Let us know.
