Targeting Harlem

On September 8, 2006 by D. Bell

target.jpgIt comes as no surprise that the next Tar-jay in New York City is coming to Harlem. There have been rumors for years now that they have had their (bulls)eye on Harlem. The New York Times and NY Post reported today that the location will be at the East River Plaza located along FDR Drive between 118th and 119th Streets. That means no more hauling bags from Brooklyn’s Atlantic Terminal Center or Riverdale in the Bronx.

Do you think that a discount retailer in Harlem is overdue?

  • The sad thing with Tar-gay coming to Harlem…all of the mom and pop stores are going to lose out. Just shows who has control of things real estate wise.

  • If you live in the west side, you can take the Broadway Train to 230th St in the Bronx to Target. Why go to Brooklyn.

  • I think it just provides further proof at too who the ultimate shopper really is? And of course they are banking highly on it. Making it convenient for us to spend our money by putting it right in our community. So if you are an investor you want to put a slice of your portfolio in Tar-jay, Marshall and don’t forget Pioneer. I work for a investment company and I tell you that’s where the $$ is.

  • Wow … the traffic is going be insane. Add that with the normal traffic buildup for the 125th st / Triboro bridge exit and you have some bad news.
