Columbia and the issue of Gentrification
Nellie Bailey of WHCR’s Harlem Real Estate Review radio program, was a speaker at a lecture series hosted on the Columbia campus concerning the rapid gentrification of Harlem. Bailey, who is also the Director of the Harlem Tenant’s Council, predicts that:
Harlem would be lucky to hold on to half its black population over the next 20 to 30 years.

The Columbia article only had one small sentence at the end that gives a ‘how’ to solve these problems. I hope that it’s just bad journalism on Columbia’s part, because I’d like to think that Ms. Bailey has some concrete ideas.
