Letter from the Editor: Reader Appreciation

On September 26, 2006 by D. Bell

I would like to thank all of the readers who loyally read our site on a daily basis. I am pleased to see that we have acquired well over 10, 000 hits in the month that we have moved from the old site.

Thank you for your readership, submissions, comments, emails, feedback, enthusiasm, and thank you for telling your friends and family about UPTOWN flavor.

The inspiration for creating UPTOWN flavor was to give light to new, up and coming or overlooked restaurants and businesses in Harlem. As the community changes and grows it is important to we document the constant evolution, thus UPTOWN flavor was born.

The fact that so many readers have visited and subscribed to our daily updates tells us that Harlem is hungry for the information that we provide. UPTOWN flavor is an exchange of information. It is a place where people who live in Harlem can offer information about the best things that Harlem has to offer.

UPTOWN flavor is unique in that it offers the most up-to-date information about what is happening in Harlem. We don’t promote a particular business merely because they are a sponsor or because we know the owner personally. We will recommend a business if we feel that its products and services are worth telling others about. I think that our readership appreciates the fact that our reviews are honest. We offer an alternative source of information to our savvy UPTOWN readers.

Some might argue that we are merely a blog, but so are major players like Curbed.com, Gothamist.com, Gawker.com, PerezHilton.com and so many others. It doesn’t diminish the quality of the information that they provide. In addition, many major newspapers and magazines are incorporating blogs into their online publications. Perhaps UPTOWN flavor is a little ahead of its time? We doubt it.  We think that we are right on time!

So, once again, thank you for reading UPTOWN flavor and we hope to continue being the premier place on the web for finding out all that is hot and happening in Harlem.
