Black Voices on AOL (BV Newswire) has reported that the new host of the long running syndicated variety hour “Showtime at the Apollo,” will be New York’s own Whoopi Goldberg. Goldberg, who recently launched a morning talk radio program, will be replacing fellow comedienne Mo’Nique who is busy with other ventures, including her “Fat Chance” pagent, a new marriage and an active set of one year old twin boys.
“Showtime at the Apollo” will be going into it’s 20th season in the newly renovated Apollo Theater on 125th Street.

  • I’m lookin at the show now… IS Monique coming back next season, I really hope she is…

  • Whoopi Goldberg Sucks!!! She needs to go host something with all white folks, so she can feel comfortable.

  • Monique and the whomp whomp had to go. It’s all about the boos! Monique seemed to have too much audience control. Whoopi is not the one though, too bland, dry and boring. No SOUL!

  • Whoopi is too low-key and sorry to say, too old. Bring back Sinbad at least!

  • no whop whop. no excitement. Mo’nique was a pro at this. The show is so boring without her. Please bring her back

  • WOW! Whoopi sucks! And she’s ugly. Man, I’ve entered hell.

  • Watching it now… Monique was funny and upbeat and Whoopi is like 3-day old cabbage. Hard to watch it now.

  • Whoopi was an awesome host at the Apollo, It was a fantastic show.
