What’s the Deal?
A reader sent us the following query:
Do you guys know what is going to replace those old bldgs being torn down at 125th and Lenox Ave btwn 124th across from CVS?
Cant seem to find an answer.
I don’t have the answer to that question but I’m sure one of our loyal readers might so feel free to chime right in. According to Curbed.com commenters there is speculation that the site will be the home of a brand new Macy*s department store.
What do I think? It’s probable but highly unlikely. If anything Macy*s may open an outlet store in Harlem. If they did so I think that they would take advantage of the retail space already available, like Harlem USA, since most are lacking a strong anchor store.
What I understand about Macy*s is that they have suffered financial problems over the years and seem to have their hands full running the locations they have in addition to the cross country department stores that they have aquired over the years.
The two closest Macy*s are 34th Street and there is also a little known location in Parkchester (on the #6 line).
I wouldn’t mind a Nordstrom though.

i think it’s strange that no one has any hard facts about it. maybe they’re just clearing the lot for sale?
It should be a Whole Foods or some type of grocery store of that level that could accommodate the brand new luxury buildings being built around that specific area.
