Date: Monday, January 8th
Time: 7 PM
Place: P.S. 180 auditorium
370 W 120th St (at West 120th Street)

Come listen to the concerns of our community about the the shooting Death of Ronald Corley Jr. & Parties at the Harlem Police Athletic League (PAL).

The meeting is being organized by the W. 119th Street Block Association after extensive consultation with neighborhood residents. The meeting will focus on the following:

– the use of the PAL for public parties run by non-PAL users and young adults who are not from the immediate community. The young man who was murdered was 21 years old and lives in the Bronx. Promoting the use of PAL as a destination night club for adults from around the city is troubling to the neighborhood residents.

– these parties last until 2AM. Given that the PAL is located in a residential neighborhood with working families and many young children, keeping families up until the wee hours of the morning is problematic not to mention un-neighborly.

– clear lack of appropriate staffing and supervision of the entrance to the PAL.

– the volume level of the music at these parties.

– unwillingness of the police to react to complaints about the PAL.

– need for adequate staffing for cleaning-up the block after events.
