Aphrodite, Not so Mighty?

On February 22, 2007 by D. Bell

It seems that Aprodite Cleaners, which have been popping up all over Harlem, have been leaving a dirty trail behind them. Complaints about the service at the dry cleaners have been left on Curbed and Harlem Fur. Looks like someone out there might need to clean up their act!

I second that. Aphrodite on 117th and Frederick Douglass has pretty sloppy service. In the couple months I’ve taken stuff there – they’ve lost one shirt and luckily found it, pulled a button off of another shirt by ripping it out and typically they deliver a few days late. Given – no dry cleaner is perfect so you cut some slack here and there. But there’s a few more options on FD now so I’ve taken my last group of clothes there. If you do take stuff, make sure you keep an eye on what you drop off and what returns.

on the one hand i have to agree that they are awful. always confused, always late, always unreliable. on the other (two) hands – in my immediate area, they are the only dry cleaners that accepts credit cards, delivers and picks up, and they are organic…meaning they and their plants are not dumping horrible chemicals behind their store and leaving a nightmare for the community to deal with at a later date.

dry cleaning chemicals are horrible. worst than an oil spill under willamsburg bad.

so i’ve resigned to putting up with their horrible customer service.
