Health Dept. Shuts M&G

On May 26, 2007 by D. Bell

Passed by tonight and they were sealed tight. Yellow sticker on the window and cleaning supplies on the table. The City’s website cites the violation as being a result of the supervisor not holding the food protection certificate, an 11 point violation which is well below the number of points that typically shut a place.

  • M&G will re-open on Wednesday, July 25th after the renovation.

  • Well Father…I am grateful that the health department is finally checking on places, but it seems like they are on a mission to take down places.

I hope M&G can open up again.

  • this is happening throughout the city. ever since the “rats” incident was plastered all over national tv screens…the health dept has closed many of my longtime favs in every corner of NYC….

it’s hard to disagree, as i know i’d like my food from violation free zones….but it does seem a bit extreem.

not to worry though, most places that have been closed down open back up within a week or two.
