On the Track: Track and Field
They won’t make to Beijing in 2008 but your kids can start prepping for their Olympic medal now. Sign them up to run track this summer!
CityParks Track & Field gives New York City kids the chance to learn th
e basics of the sport, from hurdles and relay races to long jump, shot put and javelin throw.
The program, supported by ING, is open to boys and girls ages 5-16 and runs each summer from July 9th thru August 14th.
Actual start dates for each park site varies according to which days of the week lessons are given there. So please make note of the correct start date for your park.
All participating children have the opportunity to display the basic skills learned at the end of each season at an organized track meet held at Icahn Stadium, the world class sports complex on Randalls Island.
Participants must register at each park when the program is in session. For more information, call the Sports Department 718.760.6999.

Lessons started July 9th and run thru August 14th. Start dates at each park site varied according to which days of the week lessons were given there. Please make note of the start date at your park aach summer. At all locations in 2007, lessons were given at the following times: PEEWEE- AGES 5-7: 9:30-10:30 AM
AGES 8-16 years: 10:30-12:00 PM
A Birth Certificate is always required to attend PeeWee lessons or other appropriate proof of age must be presented.
