  Behind Walls
Dir. Abel Castro
(USA, 1999, 20 min)

Josie, a home-girl from the hood, feels alienated ever since her brother, Alex, and “papi chulo” cousin, Papo, became lovers. As children, they made a promise to stay together. The promise read: “Cousins Forever”. As adults, they share an apartment. The boys are unaware that Josie has drilled a hole in the wall. She feels that peeping is pathetic but it’s the only way to feel included.

Vintage Movie

VINTAGE, Families of Value
Dir. Thomas Allen Harris
(USA, 1995, 72 min)

A look into three African American families through the eyes of lesbian and gay siblings -including the filmmaker and his younger brother. Vintage places the camera in the hands of family members to construct a collective autobiographical presentation of family. Interweaving conversations among family members, documentary footage, and experimental recreations, the film is a mosaic of extended black families where the boundaries of truth time, gender and power create a collective and autobiographical portrait.

Filmmakers will be in attendance. After the presentation join the makers, cast, and producers for an informal Q&A Panel session. Light refreshments will be served.
