Hollywood to Harlem African American Cinema Classics

miracle_in_harlem_lc45_sell-1.jpgNow through August 25th, New York City’s Casa Frela Gallery will present Hollywood to Harlem, an early African American exhibition consisting of contributed cinema and information involving Mayme A. Clayton’s consistent dedication and involvement in preserving the history of these rare African American films. The Clayton Film Archives consists of one of the largest and most substantial African American film collections in the world, and dates back to 1916. The exhibition features: Song of Freedom, Cabin in the Sky, Princess Tam Tam, Body & Soul, Stormy Weather and Rufus Jones for President.

The Casa Frela Gallery is located at 47 West 119th Street, in the Mount Morris Historic District of Harlem.
