The Birth of Cool: Jazz from 1947-57

During the Swing Era, there were a handful of musicians who championed a new, lighter approach to jazz rhythm and a cooler attitude towards their audiences. These included saxophonist Lester Young and singer Billie Holiday and inspired musicians such as Miles Davis and Gerry Mulligan. Join us for a viewing of rare films featuring these titans of jazz, hosted by Loren Schoenberg, Executive Director of The National Jazz Museum in Harlem. Presented in conjunction with Harlem Week.

FREE with Museum admission!
