Harlem Stage announces new season
The Harlem Stage fall season begins September 7, 2007 and ends February 10, 2008.
Highlights of the Harlem Stage fall season include This Woman’s Work, a series of dance and movement, choreographed by women of the African Diaspora (September 7 and 8, 2007); Up South International Book Festival (September 19-23, 2007), featuring live readings, discussion, film screenings and performances by Native, Latin, Asian and African American writers, artists, and thinkers; a sneak preview of Makandal (October 4, 2007), a new opera created by award winning playwright, performer and musician, Carl Hancock Rux featuring Haitian American composer Daniel Bernard Roumain and visual artist Edouard Duval-Carrie debuting Harlem Stage’s second wave of WaterWorks presentations; Breaking Ground with Bill T. Jones (October 9, 2007), a discussion about Harlem’s cultural influences with the acclaimed choreographer; Habana/Harlem™ (November 2 and 3, 2007), a program that celebrates the rich legacy of music that has connected New York City and Habana. Roy Hargrove (November 30, 2007), one of the premiere players in Jazz, will bring his Big Band to Harlem Stage and The Classical Theatre of Harlem presents it critically acclaimed production of Trojan Women (January 10-February 10, 2008).
