Nominations for LDC
The West Harlem Local Development Corporation (“LDC”) representing the interests of was established in 2006 to secure a community benefits agreement related to Columbia University’s proposed campus expansion in Manhattanville, West Harlem. The LDC is comprised of city/state/federal elected staff members and individuals representing a broad range of community constituencies and interests such as tenant’s associations, small residential owners, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, educational institutions and organizations, owners of commercial properties, arts and cultural institutions, youth-based organizations, commercial renters in proposed rezoning area, environmental stewardship and historic preservation *. the community
The LDC requests nominations for the following vacant seats: community-based organizations, youth-based organizations, commercial renters in the proposed rezoning area, historic preservation. All nominees must maintain a leadership position in good standing in the organization which they represent, must reside or operate in the boundaries of Manhattan Community District 9, which are south to north: 110th Street to 155th Street and west to east: the Hudson River to St. Nicholas Avenue.
A nomination information meeting for all interested parties will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 6:30pm at 541 West 125th Street, New York, N.Y.10027. Election of nominees for appointment to the Board will be held on Thursday, August 16 at 6:30pm at 541 West 125th Street, New York, N.Y.10027. All nominees for candidacy to the LDC board of directors and their constituents must be present for the vote. The historic preservation* seat will be filled based on review of resume and interview.
