Showing at Harlem Stage this Thursday, October 4, is the opera Makandal, which explores themes of escape, as seen through the experiences of two groups of Haitian and Cuban refugees. The work was conceptualized by Carl Hancock Rux, and composed by Daniel Bernard Roumain.
