Yari Yari Pamberi was an international conference held at New York University in October 2004. Yari Yari means “the future” in the Kuranko language of Sierra Leone, West Africa. Pamberi means “forward” in the Shona language of Zimbabwe. This video continues the globalization dialogue and features such renowned writers as Toni Morrison, Alice Walker, Maryse Conde, Nawal El Saadawi, Aminata Traore, Ama Ata Aidoo, Edwidge Danticat, Gloria Naylor, Sohna Benga, Latasha N Nevada Diggs and others. The video documents selected scenes from panels, readings, and performances during the conference.
