Hamilton Grange Move Halted!

Hamilton Grange Move in Jeopardy – Please Sign Petition!
The Friends of St. Nicholas Park and St. Nick’s Dog Run are excited about the upcoming move of the Hamilton Grange into our park.
Unfortunately, a group of individuals want to stop the move and even the funding because they say that the orientation of house in the
proposed plan is not historical. (please read website below for further info on this debate).

If the move is halted, federal funding may stop and our beloved park will be left with a huge hole in the ground and the Grange will remain shoved between two buildings on Convent Ave. There is a petition you can sign to show your support and let Community Board 9 know that the community supports the move as is. A meeting is schedule at Community Board 9 for this Thursday.

Please show your support and sign the petition to move the Hamilton Grange into St. Nicholas Park!

The website below has more info and background on the move.

  • im big into construction and stumbled upon this looking for pics of the grange and i happen to know that the move is going to happen and within just a few weeks in fact…….

  • The preservationists are not vicious awful people. They only want what the NPS originally laid out back in 1995. That is fair. Unfortunately, with regard to the orientation of the Grange they are mistaken to hold up any progress. I hope they reconsider their position, since it really seems that the community would prefer to have this Historic House look over the hill as opposed to its original position which would have it facing uphill and to a wall.

  • An institute that would benefit their causes and not that of the greater Hamilton Heights and Harlem community.

  • Please encourage your readers to sign this petition. The ‘preservationists’ trying to stop this are a group of racists, that don’t want to see St. Nicholas Park get federal funding for this move. They would rather the grange stay where it is, so they can turn it into some institute. Please help stop the madness!
