Consumer Recall: Puffed Rice and Wheat

On April 13, 2008 by narmer

A Minneapolis food company pulled two of its cereals off store shelves after some 23 people in 14 states – including three New Yorkers – were sickened by salmonella.

Malt-O-Meal voluntarily pulled its unsweetened Puffed Rice and Puffed Wheat cereals from shelves April 5 after finding the potentially deadly bacterium during routine testing.

The FDA said some of the recalled products were also distributed under the brands Acme, America’s Choice, Food Club, and ShopRite.
