The Talent Has Moved to Harlem

On April 16, 2008 by D. Bell

Philanthrocapitalism is the new buzz word that is traversing across the Atlantic and hooking some of London’s socially-minded plutocrats.

Ask any New York head-hunter and they will tell you the talent has moved uptown. At the other end of Manhattan, far removed from the investment banks of Wall Street or the media conglomerates of mid-town, the bright young things are heading straight to Harlem to get a foot in the door at the Clinton Global Initiative.

  • #1 – A little sensitive? That is a poster for a British movie called “Bright Young Things.” It has nothing to do with the Cliniton Global Initiative or Harlem other than the mention of the words “bright young things” in the article. Please give your righteousness and need for validation a rest.

  • Clinton Global Initiative Offices are in Midtown. Clinton Foundation is in Harlem.

  • Um, I count 6.

  • What a lovely poster of 7 White people. Thanks Uptown Flavor for being part of the chain to inform me that finally, “The Talent” can be found in Harlem. My Black ass and my 2 Ivy degrees and wall of awards in my office never knew before this “the talent” stepped foot in Harlem. Sure, I can riddle off the names of dozens of Black B’way headliners that have dwelled in Harlem long before this….but that does not really count, does it, after all, they’re Black. I appreciate Harlem being legitimized now that 7 White people, The Talent, in story have made it so!
