Many of you old enough to remember the advent of the AIDS epidemic remember that a prime “breeding” place for the spread of the disease was purportedly in gay bath houses. The Mt. Morris Baths didn’t start out as a gay bath house and surprisingly didn’t close as a result of it’s conversion to one. The bathhouse was closed by the City in 2003 due to structural problems and sits dormant on Madison near 125th Street.
