It’s Official: Starwood opening a hotel in Harlem ‘10

Back in September there were rumblings about a new W or Starwood-affiliated hotel coming to Harlem.   The Starwood Hotels website now indicates a new Aloft Hotel will be coming to 124th and FDB in June 2010.  According to the Curbed post the horrible design has been scrapped for something else, hopefully better.

  1. For the record, you can’t have it both ways. Cheer this announcement while criticizing rezoning & gentrification ( long time retailers being uprooted and priced out, along with residents).

    I think it’s a great thing. And the uptick trickle will ultimately drive a few more of these ghetto in appearance stores out of Harlem.

    I would love to see Harlem in the near future be comprised of yellow cabs, proper and decent stores and eateries, and truly like the UWS.

    Every action that contributes to the transitioning of Harlem from Black to Green is a great.
