HomeBase III, the experimental-multimedia “home” exhibit set in Harlem will be closing on May 18, so if you’ve been procrastinating, this is your last chance to see it. The exhibit has been given a thumbs up by Jerry Salz of New York Magazine who wrote:

Artists and curators always talk about “taking it to the streets.” Here’s an example of taking it to a newly renovated five-story historical landmark townhouse in the heart of Harlem’s Sugar Hill neighborhood (the project is sponsored by Harlem Lofts Management). More than a dozen artists are participating in this basement-to-penthouse show of ad hoc installations; many of the works comment on the idea of home or the situation of spreading gentrification. Don’t miss Ken Landauer’s first-floor installation of a huge couch and easy chair. Sitting in them somehow relieves the tension in your body; you’re reduced to a kid, or a munchkin. Many of works here takes you back to another time and place—Andrea Loefke, for her part, makes a picnic on the floor. The views are great, too. /NY Mag (see accompanying slideshow)

On the official website, there’s a series of webisodes that offer deeper insight into the artists and their visions for the project.
