While Harlem craves a new Trader Joe’s, a Bronx border town gets a new Fairway. According to Crains:
Fairway Market
is opening its sixth and largest store in Pelham Manor, just over the Bronx border in Westchester County, marking the budding chain’s first foray north of the city.
At 75,000 square feet, the Pelhman store will be larger than Fairway’s newest location on the waterfront in Red Hook, Brooklyn, where it operates a 52,000 square foot store. It also has its original store on W. 74th St. and Broadway plus one on W. 125th St. in Manhattan and another in Plainview, Long Island.
A K-Mart store had previously occupied the space where the Westchester store is planned. It will open in 2010.
