Marco … Polo
Memorial Day is the unofficial start of the summer season. Uptowners know that when we want to cool off on a hot summer day, we have quite a few choices available in our part of town. Besides the neighborhood open hydrants, we have some fabulous pools in Harlem. As a matter of fact, Hugo wrote about Jackie Robinson (formerly Colonial) just a few weeks ago.
New York Magazine has jumped into the fray and listed 16 of the best pools in the city in their pre-summer guide. Only one uptown pool made the list. Do you frequent local pools in the summer? What pools are missing from this list?
Riverbank State Park
Riverside Dr. at 145th St.; 212-694-3600
Cost: $2, $1 for children 5-15, free for children under 5
Uptown locals enjoy a casual family splash in either the Olympic-size indoor pool or (beginning on the Fourth of July) the six-lane alfresco option.
