Next…Out with the New and in with the Newer

On May 30, 2008 by D. Bell

Well, as soon as we get used to having one business set up shop in the nabe, they decide to close down and we are left to wonder who will be next?

I can run down a short list of places off the top of my head.

Are there other relatively decent places that are A.) Living on life support or B.) Shuttered and gone in the night? List them in the comments section.

  • Thanks for clarifying, Life long. We know that they are two different clubs — we were actually talking in terms of the concept of the two clubs.
That might not have been clear to the readers so thanks for the comment.

  • Cherry Lounge and Body are at 2 different locations. Body is hot (no pun intended). Took a tour with the owner before it opened. The rooftop entertainment space isn’t something you get to see uptown. Very nice venue option for a private party or fund raising affair.

  • This things might be closed but I’m glad to see several new things opened. Talay is open and looks very cute. Blue lights and cute people. Then next door is a brick oven Pizza spot called Covo which is very reasonably priced. Then there is the Body Lounge. So Harlem’s Meakpacking district is ready to get it on and poppin. I’m just waiting for the boat area to open up

  • Dunkin Donuts on Bway and 141 has been closed for weeks.

on bway and 142 a shoe spot called NYC Flavor closed. the owner told me he was moving to the bronx because rent was too high.

a small clothing store on the corner of 141 and bway has a closing sale sign. the owner moved his store form downtown after 9/11 to Harlem. However, he said he just does not make enough sales uptown to stay open.

an old Bontanica on Bway btw 140 and 141 closed and relocated to 139th btw Bway and Riverside.
