Nannies Needed

Maybe Harlem really is becoming an extension of the Upper West Side. I happened to stumble upon an ad for a nanny needed for a two year old in Harlem. The person really thought that it was necessary to add “just north of the Upper West Side.” What’s that about? See the actual ad after the jump.

Looking for a caring, loving, responsible care-giver for our two year old son. We’re in West Harlem, just north of the Upper West Side. Preferred days are M and F 8:30 am – 6:30 pm and Wed 8:30 am – 11:00 am, but we can be flexible. Our son still takes a two hour nap, so we would expect a bit of cooking or light house keeping during that time.

Well, can’t comment on the UWS extension concept…but we are looking for someone to share our nanny with and we live in Harlem…so I’d love to have the contact info of the ad you referenced! Could you tell me where you saw it? Thanks — greenery@stanfordalumni.org

Don’t see the issue. Obviously, Harlem has attracted one of the groups it’s been courting for years (see house tours going on this weekend and next) – young, professional families. This family obviously has no issue living here, but they are cognizant that a childcare professional that they may hire may not be as well informed.

I am thinking about having a child in about a year……approx. how much do nannies get paid?….by the way I also live in Harlem.
