Monday, May 5, 2008, the Rent Guidelines Board (RGB) held its preliminary vote and recommended increases of 3.5 percent to 7 percent for one-year leases and 5.5 percent to 9.5 percent for two-year leases. This increase more acutely affects residents of rent-stabilized apartments in Harlem as well as the entire city. There are two public hearings taking place in NYC. One already passed on Wednesday June 11th. The second one will take place Monday June16th. This is an important opportunity for tenants to speak about the impact these changes will have on them.
