The HADLEY Players: Ira and Lena – Closing Weekend

What: Aldridge and Lena, celebrates the lives and achievements of 19th Century black Shakespearean actor Ira Aldridge and esteemed songstress, actress and Civil Rights pioneer Lena Horne, in two powerful one-act presentations.

Curtain Call, Mr. Aldridge, one of the last plays written by the legendary Ossie Davis, masterfully captures the spirit and times of the superb Mr. Aldridge played by Eric Coleman.

Wendi Joy Franklin is the walking embodiment of class, style and beauty as the great Lena Horne in, A Song For You….The Civil Rights Journey of a Negro Woman: Lena Calhoun Horne.

When: June 6 to 29, 2008. Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 4:30pm, at the H.A.D.L.E.Y. Players, located at the North Presbyterian Church (529 West 155th Street – between Broadway & Amsterdam Avenues).

Tickets: General Admission is $20.00. Seniors/Students/Groups of 10 or more: $18.00. There will also be a “SPECIAL OPENING and POST-PLAY RECEPTION” on Sunday June 8th at 4:30pm. Admission is $26.00 for everyone.
