Narmer - So I guess white people won't vote for Obama either because they don't want a "minority political leader"? Oh wait, they already did vote for him in huge numbers to become the nominee. So much for your offensive theory.

This blog has no use for your racist generalizations.

MMP--i was thinking the exact same thing when i read narmer's post. normally the comments section has the odd comment that totally sweeps judgement in one direction or the other, but whenever it's from narmer, or another flavor maker, i always get a little down and dissapointed in one of my favorite blogs. it's hard to keep coming back here when many of the gatekeepers geuinely dont want you. but i do, because it's one of the only resources for chat, gossip and inside scoop about my neighborhood.

and can we just outlaw the use of "newcomer". if you mean white peole, at least have the guts to come out and say it.

Narmer--Is this blatant racism really necessary? I'm a so-called newcomer, and I voted for Rangel in the last election. If I don't vote for him the next time around, it won't be b/c I "will not accept a Minority political leader." In fact, I think that I voted for "Minority political leaders" down the line in the most recent election--with the possible exception of US senator. (I can't remember whether Schumer or Clinton was up for re-election last year.)

I suppose what's most disturbing about your racist post is that it's coming from one of the "Flavor Makers." I understand that this is a blog and not a newspaper. I'm not exactly expecting fair and balanced coverage, but I would hope that the writers would at least avoid offensive racist stereotypes.

Lastly, I don't think that "disenfranchise" was the word that you were looking for there.

Remember Freedom National Bank, the Apollo before it was taken over? All Rangel entanglements. Look it up if you don't remember. Real old Harlem residents do. He did a lot of good in the past, but he has been separated from the public at large for a long time.

This Rangel brew-ha-ha reminds me of a campaign to disenfranchise the Congressman from his constituents.
You people know the the new comers will not accept a Minority political leader and will want one of their own. It was tried in the last election, and fell short.
So Harlemites don't fall for this scheme .

Re: Rangel - Like i said before... The wrath of longtime Harlem residents s/b directed towards their elected officials more so than the new residents of the community. Sold out long time ago. Developers can only come in where the politicians let them.
