To Whom Does Harlem Belong?
In case you didn’t catch yesterday’s NPR “News and Notes,” the topic was gentrification and the “end to white
flight.” As you know, we’ve been having these conversations over here on U.F. since we first hit the scene. Interestingly enough, I recently sent an email to “News and Notes” offering to talk about this topic, based on my experiences in Harlem and Brooklyn. Not surprisingly, the guests they brought onto the show were none other that Willie Suggs and Nellie Hester Bailey. I’ll leave it at that.
I couldn’t help not adding my 2 cents to the topic in the News & Views section and I encourage you do the same — no matter which end of the issue you stand on.
