i dont disagree with much of what you’ve said GDAWG but i think a white doll on the upper west side would not turn any heads because there is not the toxic history with the police that you mentioned in your earlier post. i think because of that history, harlem residents are MUCH more sensitive…which is why the outrage is so (rightfully) pronounced.
Finally, imagine two Black patrolmen/women rolling through Broad Channel or Park Slope or the Upper Eastside,.. etc, with a white doll’s head on their patrol car’s antenna. What do you think the response would be in these neighborhoods?
Case Closed!!!!!!!
And we’re not supposed to be offended here in Harlem? I could mention some unmentionables at this point. But I won’t. Cause I’m trying to be civil.
Your point is well taken but I have never heard of these trash guys being supported by tax dollars to the extent purported law enforcers are. Moreover, with the enduring agrimony between the Black community and law enforcement, I you would think that “responsible and intelligent folks,” to put it mildly, would not allow such crude behavior for such a “professional” force. I meansome city fire trucks have such items on their rigs but no AGRIMONY BETWEEN THEM AND THE COMMUNNITY, for the most part, notwithstanding the hanging nooses. Therefore, such an action has a different context and cultural interpretation. That is, a narrative not as bloody and deadly.
I hope the people will be just as outraged at the private trash trucks, that have full Black Dolls mounted on their grills of their trucks. Have never heard a work about that practice from any Black Community Leaders!
Damn. One of the craziest excuses I’ve heard so far justifying the doll’s head placement was that because Harlem is a “Black” community, the placement of a Black Doll’s head was appropiate or okay. I suspect next burning crosses in Harlem is going to seem “plausible” and okay because of the many Churches located there.
