The problem is alot deeper than what you are suggesting. And we really need to talk about it responsibly as a community. Commercials rents are definitely a problem BUT we need to talk developing viable commercial strips with products and services that will attract customers. We have to diversify. All businesses need to diversify but especially in communities of color. And that means attracting different types of consumers. It means making our communities attractive (streetscaping) and asking local residents to support with their dollars into some local businesses in order to have a mix and multiple revenue streams. Our communities cannot support businesses on our own. In fact, most communities can’t. They rely on a mix.
