Development: Hamilton Lofts
On the way home from La Pregunta, I cut down Edgecombe Avenue and spotted a construction crew going full steam ahead on the Hamilton Lofts. The location is a little weird (some would say sketchy, but it is more off the beaten path,) since that part of Edgecombe is a back street with car repairs, a bodega, and a beauty salon. If you remember, it is also the same part of Edgecombe where the 1970s classic, Claudine was set.
There are several pluses to this location. One good thing is that it sits across the street from a school that received a good grade on the Mayor’s report card. It is also within walking distance of Pathmark, Duane Reade, Starbucks, New York Sports Club, and the solvent Bank of America. Finally it is only a few blocks away from St. Nicholas Park, the B & C trains, and City College. There is also a Mediterranean restaurant up the way that is a favorite among the local cabbies.
