Local Eats: Under Renovation
It has been brought to our attention that yet another business is “under renovation.” Last week we reported that Cafe Bon Jour on St. Nicholas was dark with a closed for renovations sign in the window, yet there didn’t appear to be physical signs of construction going on inside of the tiny cafe.
The other evening I passed by Charles’ Southern Kitchen and they were also dark with the gates drawn closed. Farther downtown, Harlem Wing and Waffle had a renovation sign in the window promising to reopen on November 1st.
Then today U.F. received a message that Baton Rouge, the sister restaurant to MoBay, also appeared to be undergoing a renovation of sorts. I noticed that they had been trying to rebrand the business as The Rouge in their promotions. A portion of the message from a U.F. reader is after the jump.
Walked by Monday night and all sort of crap was piled up front like they tore out a lot of the interior decorations or whattnot
I’ll be swinging by Bon Jour and Baton Rouge this afternoon to get an update on their status. It could be a matter of the owners deciding to close Baton Rouge to focus on the success of their MoBay restaurants. They did send out an email to their patrons earlier this month stating that October 10th was the closing weekend and the restaurant would be reopening at the end of October under new management.
