Terence Tolbert, gone but not forgotten

On November 3, 2008 by D. Bell

Chris of Harlem Fur sent me an email this morning sharing his thoughts about the loss of Terence Tolbert, a life long Harlemite who died of a fatal heart attack last night. Tolbert was the state director of Barack Obama’s Nevada campaign.

Chris says:

Few would argue that he worked himself to death on a
campaign he believed in on so many levels.
I first met Terence on the McCall campaign in ’02, and for anyone who
knows him, from his work with Keith Wright, Bloomberg or the DOE, his
passion drives him more than most people.

Terence leaves behind his wife, Freida Foster.

If you ask around, you will find a lot of people who will miss Terence.

According to the Daily News,

Tolbert was an aide to Mayor Bloomberg and also worked on John Edwards’ campaign in 2004 (he was Edwards’ NY campaign manager). A lifelong Harlem resident, he also worked for Assemblyman Keith Wright, served as VP Al Gore’s Louisiana state director in 2000 and was the field director for then-H. Carl McCall’s failed gubernatorial bid in 2006.

The UPTOWNflavor family acknowledges the work of Mr. Tolbert and we send our condolences to his family and friends.
