KASA-casa brings together art installation, music and performance art from downtown NYC art scene to Washington Heights. In an at-once accessible and poignant crosshatching of themes, the Japanese artist draws on her experience in Asian and Latino societies.  Assumptions about race and identity are blurred while preconceptions of the boundaries and definitions of the performance space are challenged. Composer David Smooke performs live music improvisations. Dahlia Fischbein sets a subliminal tone with her video art. Also featuring: Kim Meijer (performance), Karl Nussbaum (video art), Max Lust (animation), Khan and Meagan (dance), and others tba.

KASA-Casa is made possible in part with public funds from the MCAF, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and administered by the Lower Mahattan Cultural Council. Acknowledgement: Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, The Field, Alianza Dominicana, Inc., and IS 143 for providing time and space to create this work.
