Lenox Wines Grand Opening

Tonight was the grand opening of Lenox Wines.  The event featured a wine tasting where locals were offered a sampling of wines from around the globe. I personally tasted wines from Argentina, South Africa and Spain.  I wound up leaving with a relatively inexpensive bottle of wine from Australia.

The store staff is knowledgeable and helpful.  While the selection is limited, the shelves are well organized and the prices displayed prominently.  You can find a robust red from the mountain region of Argentina to a sweet honey wine from Ethiopia.

I spoke briefly with Kiera Austin, the director of Lenox Wines, and she informed me that the store is very interested in offering an alternative to the bullet proof glass liquor stores lining Lenox Avenue. Lenox Wines makes wine selection more accessible and the addition of regular wine tastings adds an educational element to their mission.

I  was informed by the staff that other labels will be offered once they get an idea of the tastes of the neighborhood.  They encourage customers to request favorite wines when they visit the store.

I asked about the addition of a website and was informed that they just purchased the web domain www.lenoxwines.com.  The site should be live in the coming weeks.  In the meantime, you can sign up for their Email list when you visit the store.

Be sure to pop into Lenox Wines  next time you are in the area and tell them that UPTOWNflavor sent you.
