Getting Fit in Harlem in 2009
What is it about entering the new year that encourages people to get on the health train? Perhaps it is the concept of turning a new page? This time of year many people make an assessment of the year that has just passed and begin to set new goals for the new year. Anyone who works in the fitness field will tell you that this is the time of year when there is a huge spike in gym memberships, diet related services, and the purchase of workout gear. However, it’s also the time of year when many unused gym memberships expire for those people that failed to follow through on last year’s commitment.
Alas, not everyone falls off of the boat (or the wagon in Oprah’s case!) In fact if you are really serious about getting serious about your health and weight management, then this is the best time of year to join a gym. A number of gyms are reducing their joining fees or slashing monthly membership fees altogether. Take a look at the following fitness gyms in Harlem and their specials:

Thanks for the great list of local places and tips! It’s all about setting small, realistic goals, right?
Since I started riding my bicycle as my main form of transportation, I’ve gotten in better shape than a gym membership ever got me. Plus I’m saving the subway fares
Oh and no need to change your clothes or take time out of your schedule!
I LOVED Planet Fitness when I lived in Chicago…it is not as “gym-y” as the other places. Off to the gym…
