Three Kings Day Celebrations in Harlem

3kingsNow that we’ve gotten Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s finished we can turn our attention to Three Kings Day.  Here is a list of events taking place in Harlem next week.

Three Kings Day Parade
Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 11am
East Harlem
FREE

Kings, live camels, floats and lively music. The Three Kings Day parade will start at 106th St and Third Avenue and travel up to 116th St and then head west, down Lexington to 112th Street, then over to Park, ending at La Marqueta Plaza at 115th St.

Three Kings Day Celebration
Saturday , January 10, 2009, 3-5pm
El Museo del Barrio
FREE, but space limited. First come, first served.

A truly multicultural Holiday performance of live parrandas (Latin American Christmas Carols) and a play inspired by the Mexican tradition of pastorelas (a humorous Nativity play)

St. John the Divine
112th St & Amsterdam, Manhattan
Saturday, January 3, 2009, 10am-12pm
Ages 4 and up
$5 per child

Camels and Kings: Celebrating the Epiphany workshop families listen to the story of the Three Wise Men and then kids make gift boxes, costumes and sparkling crowns.
