MLK Day of Service: It is Better to Give Than to Receive

Some people have already declared January 20th Obama Day although the week is typically used to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Even the kids have jumped on the Obama bandwagon. One of my little friends stared at a dollar bill in his hand and declared, “I can’t wait until they start making Obama dollars.” Can you see it?
As we know, our future president is a huge proponent of community service and you can do your part to kick the new year off on the right foot. It would make our new president proud to see Harlem taking action to improve our neighborhood. Below are a number of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service events taking place in Harlem:

Great post and we love that the focus is on the MLK Day of Service. In our opinion…that’s the truly transformative day. It’s inspirational (the true realization of the “Dream”), but it’s also a true testament to this administration’s commitment to service. That’s actually why we’re reaching out…
As we searched for paraphernalia that captured the power of the coming inauguration, we were struck by the dearth of merchandise that captured the power of the moment (everything was tacky, and nothing talked about Dr. King and President Obama). So we created our own designs to fill that void, and a suite of products featuring those images. 10% of all proceeds will go toward supporting the construction of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington DC.
People have responded well to the designs. Check them out here: http://mywmyr.wordpress.com (my world my responsibility)
