MTA Fare Increases
The Straphangers Network sent the following information about the proposed fare hike.
It’s crunch time for safe, decent and affordable transit.
If you are disgusted by the proposals to raise fares and slash service, the Straphangers Campaign urges you to speak at this Wednesday night’s MTA hearing.
Transit officials are proposing $2.50 base fare, $103 for a 30-day MetroCard and major service cuts, including eliminating two lines (W and Z), shortening three others (G, M and N), increasing subway wait times and crowding and eliminating or shortening dozens of bus routes.
Let public officials know what the hikes and service cuts mean to you. Details on the hearing are below:

Whoa. That’s a whole lot more than when I was living in NYC. Eesh.
Fare were a buck fifty when I came and folks were complaining about that. We finally settled into $2 but this is taking it too far.
