This video was created at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem. Some of the greatest of all time including Sarah Vaughan, Lionel Hampton, Martha Davis, Nipsey Russell, and Cab Calloway are featured.
Willie Bryant – The Clown Prince of Mirth is the host! Opening number features Lionel Hampton and his Orchestra performing “She’s My Ding Dong Baby”!
Sarah Vaughn is followed by Paul Williams and The Hucklebuck Boys, with Jimmy Brown doing a solo. Martha Davis dazzles you with her piano skills.. Then Nipsey Russell and Mantan Moreland do a hilarious comedy routine.
Amos Milburn sings Bewildered followed by Fay Adams performing “Somebody, Somewhere”. The Clovers close out part 3 with “Lovey, Dovey”
Sarah Vaughn comes back to sing “For a Lifetime”. Then Coles and Atkins perform a song and dance routine. Herb Jeffries sings “A Woman is a Worrisome Thing”. The show closes with Cab Calloway doing “Calloway Boogie”.
