Adult Swim in Harlem

I received an email about a month ago asking me to share information with U.F. readers about the Dunlevy-Milbank Swimming pool in Central Harlem.

This indoor heated pool is located in the Children’s Aid Society Boys and Girls Club at 14-32 West 118th Street between 5th and Lenox. The pool is 25 yards and has 5 lanes.

There has been a push to open the pool to the community on weekday mornings from 6AM-10AM and again in the evenings and on weekends (if a minumum of 6 people sign up). Right now they are looking for at least two more people to sign up.

Here is the deal:

  • The cost is $50 a month and you need to pay for the first two months when you sign up.  After that, you pay monthly and they are thinking of requiring a 6 month committment, but that’s not set in stone.

You might be saying that the cost is a bit more than the city pools, but considering having access to your lane in the mornings it might be worth it.

Dexter, the Pool Manager, at the Children’s Aid Society, is happy to hear all suggestions about when the pool should be open. He can be reached at 212 996 1716.  He is typically there M-F, 12:30 – 7pm.  (He’s often out on the pool deck though.

You can register starting Monday, April 6th anytime from 8am – 9pm, 7 days a week.

  • Thanks so much for this info! I’ve been looking for a pool in the area and had no idea this existed! Gonna go check it out.
