SANTANA’S CUT MEN, on 106th Street just west of First Avenue, returns the professional boxer Edgar Santana, 30, to his tonsorial roots. A decade ago, he was a barber on 109th Street, where he met someone who introduced him to a man who would become his manager. Nicknamed “The Pride of East Harlem,” Mr. Santana was seen as a contender until he was arrested and charged with conspiracy and sale of cocaine last year. He pleaded not guilty and is out on bail. At the new shop, five barbers wear satin jackets emblazoned with “We Cut Heads” on the back. The walls are covered with sketches and slogans by a friend, the artist James De La Vega.
