ImageNation would like to thank you for all of your support of our new series at the National Black Theatre with the presentation of a FREE New York premiere of the film WHITEWASH, Thursday, July 16, 2009 7PM at Marcus Garvey Park.
Narrated by Ben Harper and Tariq “Black Thought of The Roots. The film Whitewash features music by The Roots and Erykah Badu and is a documentary film exploring the complexity of race in America through the struggle and history of Black surfers. This unique film is told through the eyes of Black surfers from Hawaii, Jamaica, Florida, and California.
This screening kicks off our outdoor summer series. This year, we’ve teamed up with the Historic Harlem Parks for many of our shows. Join us for a summer of Black film & music under the stars!
Whitewash is presented in collaboration with Okayplayer.com, the Surf Film Festival and Historic Harlem Parks Film Festival.
