Target rolled out the red carpet to invited guests for an exclusive “sneak peek” at the new East Harlem store set to open on July 25th.  Local celebrities from some of our favorite Harlem institutions, as well as models, actors, and singers made East Harlem their destination last night.  On the red carpet, it was apparent that floral prints were the pick of the day. Everyone from designer Tracy Reese, to sisters Tracee Ellis and Rhonda Ross celebrated summer in colorful style.

Harlem restaurants Melba’s, La Fonda Boricua, and MoBay provided the food and refreshments, as Chef Marcus Samuelsson offered a cooking demonstration in the grocery section. The Target mascot, Bullseye, sat patiently as a line of guests took photos with it, and many of the celebrities shopped and chatted in the wide aisles of the store. George Faison (The Wiz)  was seen leaving with a cart full of goodies, likely in preparation for the annual block party he hosts in front of his Harlem firehouse.

The East Harlem store offers exclusive designer items, as well as the usual fare of groceries, electronics, furniture, appliances, and more. We expect the new Harlem Target to give its suburban counterparts a run for the money.

The East Harlem Target is at 116th Street and Pleasant Avenue, right off of the FDR. You can catch the M116, and get off on 116th and 1st Avenue. You’ll have to walk a couple blocks east to the shopping center from there.

Still want more? How about a sneak peek inside the new Harlem Target?
