Last month, a new full-length comedy musical film premiered to a full house for one night only at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. The original musical score, screenplay, design and production was created entirely by young artists living in Harlem. The story of these artists is the basis for the movie, which incorporates themes of friendship, love and community involvement. It has been compared to a Harlem version of the hit musical “Rent.
