Where to BBQ in Harlem for Memorial Day
The sidewalk cook out in Harlem is a rite of summer that is just one of the many characteristics that gives Harlem its flavor. As the neighborhood changes, more people are moving their barbecues off of the streets and into the historic parks in the area.
If you prefer picnic benches and grass for your outdoor gatherings, then you are in luck. Harlem and Washington Heights happen to have the most parks in Manhattan where grilling is allowed.
We’ve provided a full list of parks where you are authorized to cook out this weekend. You should be aware that not all areas of the parks are designated for barbecues and that proper disposal of your trash and coals are required. Many people bring their own garbage bags just in case the trash receptacles provided by the parks department overflow. Coals (hot and cold) should only be dumped into the designated metal bins.
Have a safe holiday! We’ll see you back here on Tuesday.
